Mark Buchanan (North Pole CC) emerged victorious in the Lakeland Criterium in Enniskillen, as the heavens opened and the slippery conditions made for tricky riding.

Buchanan pulled clear of the bunch with Dane Dunlop of host club Lakeland CC and Tony Brady from America of the CVC/Franco club.

Buchanan and Dunlop managed to distance Brady after the trio had been out in front for 20 laps on what was a very difficult night for a crit race, which was run on Friday evening.

The gallop to the line was a close one, with Buchanan just about edging out Dunlop. Brady hung on for third while the bunch – which was hit by a crash on the last lap – fragmented towards the finish in the scrap to settle the minor placings
