Seymour makes it three from three at Tymon Park “Fixx Supercross Cup”

Robin Seymour (Team WORC) continued his dominant run in the ‘Fixx Coffeehouse Supercross Series’ when he emerged from wet and cold conditions in Tymon Park, south west Dublin, to take victory in the third round today, Sunday.

The win sees him move into a commanding overall lead in the 2012 series, having won all three of the opening rounds to date.

It was the National Cyclocross Champion’s team mate Evan Ryan who got the best start today, coming through the start-finish area at the end of the first lap just one second ahead of Seymour.

Sean O’Tuathail (Bray Wheelers) was next just two seconds adrift, with Peter McConville (Newry Wheelers) right behind him.

While Ray O’Shaughnessy (Cuchulainn CC) got off to something of a sluggish start, relinquishing 14 seconds to the early leader Ryan on the first lap, his challenge was far from over.

Seymour began to pull ahead of his nearest early challengers on the next couple of laps, though it was the aforementioned O’Shaughnessy who was by far the fastest on both lap 2 and 3. He put eight seconds into Seymour on the second lap and a further six into him on the third, moving into second place and closing right down on the leader.

However, Seymour was not about to panic and he simply kept pounding out his tempo around the mainly flat but at times technical course.

On laps 4 through to the final 9th circuit he was quickest of the field and ran out the eventual winner with 1:25 to spare over the impressive O’Shaughnessy.

O’Tuathail, who has been very strong so far this season on both sides of the border, collected yet another podium finish today. He did enough to take third, some 1:27 down on second place.

The early leader, Ryan did not let his fast start go to his head – or his legs - and he maintained a very good tempo during the 1 hour+ event, taking fourth place just five seconds ahead of McConville in fifth.
