Seth Dunwoody was back in action in the Netherlands on Sunday for his Cannibal B Victorious team just 24 hours after taking a very impressive bunch sprint win at E3 Saxo Classic (1.1) in Belgium.

The Irish 17-year-old took a different approach to Sunday's event, run over multiple sectors of pavé; going on a long-range attack in a small group as he chased another win.

And though his bid for a second victory in as many days just came up short, he took 2nd place to complete a great weekend, confirming he is now coming in some fantastic form after an already solid early season.

The national-level event, though featuring an international field, was run over 116km, on a course of five laps, with two cobbled sectors each lap. The organisers also included a sprint competition, based on a sprint on one of the cobble sectors on each of the five passages of the course.

With almost 40km completed, Dunwoody got clear in what would prove to be the winning breakaway. And though there was just three of them in that move, they put their heads down for 70km and pulled out over two minutes on what remained of the main peloton.

Dunwoody had two Danish riders for company in that small breakaway; Anton Louw Larsen (Uno-X-Carl Ras Roskilde Junior) and Hugo Rishøj (Tscherning Cycling Academy).

Though the Irish rider was best in the sprints during the race, and won that competition, he was narrowly beaten for victory at the finish by Louw Larsen; the duo finishing side by side on the same time. Rishøj trailed in just six seconds later.

A handful of chasers managed to get clear of the peloton and fight it out for the minor placings, with the best of them finishing just 39 seconds down on Louw Larsen and Dunwoody. The peloton was just over two minutes back.
