Sean McKenna shakes off big guns for Leinster Champs win

Sean McKenna has capped a fantastic year by winning the Leinster Road Race Championships in Kildare at the weekend. The UCD CC man pulled clear in the main event with Mark Dowling (DID Dunboyne) and Damien Shaw (Aquablue). However, while finding himself in very good company, McKenna took advantage of the two big guns marking each other very closely and showed great initiative, not to mention great form, to attack them and solo to a lone win. The provincial title comes after another very strong year for the UCD CC man, in which he gained selection for the U23 national squad at Kerry Group Rás Mumhan, where he took the yellow jersey at the Easter Bank Holiday weekend. He also represented Ireland at the World University Championships in Poland during the summer.
