Ryan Mullen was 4th in the pursuit at the Worlds in Colombia last year and is a real medal hope for Ireland in the next few days.
The women’s pursuit team will get Ireland’s World Track Championships campaign underway in Paris tomorrow, Wednesday.
The racing quartet will be drawn from Caroline Ryan, Lydia Boylan, Lauren Creamer, Josie Knight and Melanie Spath.
The qualifiers will start at 2pm Irish time. The Irish would ride again on Thursday if they advanced to the next round.
Three-time medal winner at the Worlds, Martyn Irvine gets his campaign underway at 9pm on Thursday with the 15km scratch race.
Irvine won the world title in this event two years ago in Minsk and also took silver last year in Cali.

Martyn Irvine has won gold and two silvers at the Worlds, gold and two silvers at the UCI Track World Cup and a bronze at the European Championships. His form has been patchy of late, but he is a big man for the big occasion.
He has been through the ringer in recent seasons with crashes and his form has not been as good as usual of late.
But very few would bet against the big man taking something from these championships given his palmares and appetite for the big occasion.
On Friday he will be Ireland’s only competitor in action when he takes in the first three events of the men’s omnium; the scratch race, pursuit and elimination race.
Saturday will be a hectic day for the Irish camp.
European championships bronze medallist Eoin Mullen will ride his speciality sprint event.

Caroline Ryan has a Worlds bronze medal on her CV and also a bronze from the UCI World Cup. She would dearly love to add some silverware to that haul this weekend.
Irvine completes his omnium with the final three events; the 1km TT, flying lap and 40km points race.
Caroline Ryan, a bronze medal winner at the Worlds three years ago in Melbourne, gets her omnium underway with the scratch race, pursuit and elimination race.
And Ryan Mullen goes in the qualifiers of the individual pursuit, an event he was 4th in last year.
On Sunday Caroline Ryan completes her final three events in the omnium to bring Ireland’s campaign to a close.
The championships take place at the Velodrome de Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines.
