Sam Bennett just came up short on stage 4 of the Vuelta yesterday, being forced to settle for 2nd place.
His runner-up spot came 24 hours after winning stage 3 and Bennett was bitterly disappointed not to have won again.
However, the footage from the final kilometre shows the battle the Bora-hansgrohe sprinter took on in a bid to win.
He took the long away around a roundabout with just over 1km to go and that cost him a significant number of places.
As the video below begins, Bennett has already recovered his position to 12th wheel.
But the man who won - Fabio Jakobsen (Deceuninck-QuickStep) - was near the front getting the perfect lead out.
As Bennett moves up towards the top six riders in the line, one of his own team mates drops back, leading to a squeeze and Bennett bumping off one of the CCC Team men.
Just as Bennett looks to be in position, the road rises and a Bahrain Merida rider comes through strongly to Bennett's left, towing a number of riders on his wheel and swamping the Irishman again.
However, Sam Bennett still continues to weave though the riders ahead, getting past them all but one.
And just as he is about to go past Jakobsen, the canny 22-year-old moves to his left ensuring Bennett has to go the long way to try and pass the Dutch champion; just failing to do so though it was very close indeed.
