Sam Bennett continued his impressive year in the paid ranks when he took fourth place on stage one of the five-day Bayern Rundfahrt in Germany today.
On a rain sodden, crash strewn stage, Bennett survived numerous spills to enter the final corner of the 201km stage in second place.
The Carrick-On-Suir man opened the sprint early but his legs went in the final 100 metres. He ultimately finished fourth behind stage winner Heinrich Haussler of IAM Cycling, Yauheni Hutarovich of AG2R La Mondiale and Garmin Sharp sprinter Steele Von Hoff.
