Sam Bennett (An Post–ChainReaction) came close to a podium position on Sunday when he finished in 4th place in a pro kermesse in Flanders. Whilst other members of the team were competing in the Driedaagse van West-Vlaanderen, Bennett, Jack Wilson and Sean Downey took to the line of the race in Lierde, near Geraardsbergen.

The Carrick-on-Suir man managed to make it into the lead group of 22 riders, who just about stayed clear of the peloton on the run-in. Two riders broke away on the last lap to fight out the win, whilst Bennett was just beaten into fourth place. Jack Wilson finished in 23rd place.

Next up for the team are Wanzele tomorrow and Kattekoers (Deinze-Ieper) next weekend, where they can expect to do well. Last year, Niko Eeckhout won in Wanzele ahead of Gediminas Bagdonas whilst Roy Jans managed to take the win in Ieper.
