Roche kicks off new campaign in Baltic conditions in Italy

Roche - The snow has been falling in Europe

The snow has been falling in Europe….

Nicolas Roche (Ag2r La Mondiale) has kicked off his 2012 campaign with a low key appearance in the GP Costa degli Etruschi in Tuscany today.

The area was hit in recent days by the snow and freezing conditions that have pounded much of Continental Europe and today’s race was shortened to 169km as a concession to the riders.

It ended in a predicted bunch sprinter with young Italian galloper Elia Viviani (Liquigas-Cannondale) taking victory after 4hrs 25mins of racing. The Italian is hoping to ride the omnium at the London Olympics.
