Robin Seymour takes opening race of 'cross season from Evan Ryan and bumper field

Former National Cyclocross Champion, Robin Seymour has begun the 2013 where he left off at the end of last season, on top of the podium in the Foxx Coffeehouse Series round 1 in west Dublin on Sunday.

The Team WORC man made the fastest start on the course at Grange Castle in Clondalkin, but after completing the opening lap of nine just ahead of team mate Evan Ryan, he ten tussled with Ryan for the next few laps before he began to pull away conclusively on lap 6.

For example, both riders went around the course within a few seconds of each other for each of the first five laps, going out onto the sixth lap after crossing the start-finish line together. However, on that 6th lap, Seymour put 14 seconds into Ryan, before extending his lead by 26 seconds on both of the next two laps and 25 seconds on the final lap.

Despite the neck and neck start, he ran out the winner by a clear 1:34 over Ryan. In third place was Tim O'Regan (DID Dunboyne), who was a further 25 seconds back and may run the off road specialists Ryan and Seymour a lot closer in the weeks ahead.

Speaking of threats to come, in fourth place in the A race was Paddy Michel; the junior rider from Team WORC having a great ride.
