Robin Kelly has scored a win in his first outing since returning to Waterford Racing Club, taking the Ned Flanagan Memorial in Co Kildare today.
Having taken victory in the event twice in the last three years, Robin Kelly has made it three from four at the Ned Flanagan Memorial in Co Kildare this afternoon.
The early season specialist triumphed from a bumper field in the A1-A2 race to get his second stint with Waterford Racing Club off to a flying start.
A breakaway of around 10 riders moved clear with one third of the 60km course completed, with Kelly getting across to that move late.
And from that escape he would again pull clear in the closing kilometres, this time with just Simon Ryan (Mego Racing Team) for company.
They survived to the finish where Kelly got the better of Ryan in the two-up contest.
Keith Finn of Lakeside Wheelers was next home to round out the podium.
Kelly has ridden for Aquablue CC for the last two seasons.
But having been one of the founding members of the Waterford Racing outfit, he returned there with national veterans' champion Keith Gater during the off season.
And judging by his performance in the Newbridge CC promoted season opener in Monasterevin today, he is in mint condition again for the 2015 campaign.
We'll have lots more from today's race very soon.
