Road racing action in six counties on the home scene in the week ahead

The week ahead on the home road racing scene has plenty to offer, with TTs, one-day racing and stage race action taking place across the country including Down, Limerick, Mayo, Louth, Dublin and Antrim.

Tomorrow, Thursday, the second round of the Ernie Magwood Super Six takes place, with round 1 last month making the news when junior rider Conor Murphy (Caldwell Cycles) recorded a time of 17:42, equaling the Irish senior men's 10 mile TT record set by Ryan Mullen back in 2014.

Island Wheelers Cycling Club hosts tomorrow's 10 mile TT event, with the first rider off at 7:01pm. Sign-on opens from 6pm at race HQ at Crankill Rd, Glarryford, Ballymena, Co Antrim.

On Saturday and Sunday the JJ Kenneally Two Day unfolds in Limerick, with three separate races down for the decision; for women, paracyclists and youth riders.

Promoted by Newcastle West Cycling Club and held in Tournafulla, west Limerick, the event involves four stages over the two days; a criterium and road race on Saturday followed by a TT and road race on Sunday.

The youth events are open to all categories, from U12 to U16 while the women's racing is for juniors and seniors. In the paracycling event, handcyclists, solos and tandems are all catered for.

Also on Saturday, the Sean Lynch Memorial takes place in Co Meath; promoted by Jons Drogheda Wheelers supported by Skryne CC and Navan RC,

Two races are being promoted over a 15km circuit from Skryne GFC in Skreen. The C1-C2 race - six laps for 90km - starts at 10am and the C3 race - four laps for 60km - begins at 10:03am.

On Sunday in Co Mayo the Brian O'Loughlin Memorial is being promoted by Cunga CC. Race HQ is at the Crossroads Community Centre in Cong, with sign-on opening at 9am and the race roll-out at 10:55am.

There are three separate races - for C1, C2 and C3 riders - over a 28.5km course. The C1s do four laps, the C2s-Jnrs three laps and the C2s two laps.

Next Tuesday, Rás Luimni is being promoted as an evening race this year by Limerick Cycling Club on a 30km course from Birdhill, 2km from junction 27 on the M7. Sign on opens at 5.30pm and the racing starts from 7pm.

There is a handicapped race for C1-C2 riders, over three laps, and a C3 race over two laps. You can get more information and enter the races by following this link.

Also next Tuesday night, the Corkagh Park Women's League round 2 is being promoted at Corkagh Park, Dublin. There are two events - a B race at 7pm and a B race at 7.35pm.

Next Wednesday night, the second round of the Kirkistown Series is being promoted by North Down CC, sponsored by Fit Studio NI. Run on the Kirkistown Race Circuit in Newtownards, Co Down, there's kids racing at 6.30pm, an event for U12s at 7pm and then a main event for U16, U16, junior and senior riders at 7.30pm.
