Road race, TT, National Track Champs action in week ahead on Irish scene

After the excitement of the National Road Championships last week, there is no time for rest with the domestic cycling scene hurtling on with lots of racing over the next week; TTs, road races and track events.

This weekend Newry Wheelers is promoting two stage races - with Newry Three Day events for both men and women. The Ballivor GP takes place on Saturday in Co Meath, with the Danny O'Shea 10 mile TT on the same day in Co Wicklow.

However, while those comprise the road racing offering for the weekend, there is plenty of other action before then.

Tomorrow - Thursday, July 3rd - the fourth round of the Ernie Magwood Super Six TT Series takes place over 10 miles on the Frosses course from Ballymena, Co Antrim.

Island Wheelers Cycling Club hosts tomorrow’s 10 mile TT event, with the first rider off at 7:01pm. Sign-on opens from 6pm at race HQ at Crankill Rd, Glarryford, Ballymena, Co Antrim.

On Friday evening, the Newry Three Day events get underway with a men's race for C1, C2, C2 and Masters 40 riders and the women's race open to all categories. The men's event is full and a reserve list is in place, which is a great news, while there are still places left in the women's event.

In Dublin the National Track Championships - take place on Saturday and Sunday on the Eamonn Ceannt Stadium, Sundrive Road. The titles down for decision are in sprint, pursuit, keirin, scratch, points race and madison.

On Saturday, the Danny O'Shea 10 Mile TT, incorporating round 6 of the Para Revolution Cup, takes place on the 10 mile out and back course at Brittas Bay, Co Wicklow. The race - by Sorrento CC - starts at 11am, with car parking available at Jack White's Pub.

Also on Saturday, the Ballivor GP is being run by Navan Road Club in Ballivor village, Co Meath. The evening race, starting at 7.15pm, is a handicap event for C1, C2 and C3 riders.

The race starts at 7:15pm outside McLaughlin's Pub, which is sign-on, and the action will unfold over three laps of a 17.8km fast and flat circuit.
