Banbridge CC, with their sponsor Telefónica Tech, tomorrow host the fifth and final round of the Cycling Ireland National Road Series. There are three races on the card; Elite-Junior women, Elite-Junior men and A3 man.
The two main events for men are women will bring the Cycling Ireland National Road Series to a close tomorrow. It means, apart from the win on the day, victories and placings in the series are very much up for grabs.
Matt Teggart (Wiv SunGod) leads the men's series after romping to victory in the early rounds and he goes to post the favourite in the men's race tomorrow. However, with there are other top names in the field - some in rare form at present - and Teggart, though he comes from the Banbridge stable, will need to be on his toes tomorrow if he wants to win again.,
Daire Feeley and Mark Dowling lead the All human-VeloRevolution charge and with wins in their belts in the last few weeks, either can win. Another the Banbridge men, though now riding for AC Bisontine, John Buller is also one to watch, as is Aaron Wade (Team U Cube 17), fresh from his first big win in France last weekend.
Luke Smith (Moynalty Cycling Club) has hit an incredible patch of form in recent weeks and he'll be among the most heavily marked men tomorrow. The UCD Cycling Club trio of Conor Murnane, Jason Kenny and Rhys Kenny can also do serious damage and are potential winners.
Others who are also sure to be in the mix include David Montgomery and Darragh McCarter of Spellman-Dublin Port, junior Niall McLoughlin (Westport Covey Wheelers Cycling Club), Gareth O'Neill (Team Caldwell Cycles), Matteo Cigala (Team Dan Morrissey - Pactimo) and Odhran Doogan (Team Caldwell Cycles)
In the women's race, some of our biggest domestic and international big guns are in the field. Eve McCrystal (Bellurgan CC) has just come back from the UCI Paracycling Road Worlds with a gold and silver - from the road race and TT with Katie George Dunlevy - and can make everyone hurt tomorrow.
Lara Gillespie is one of our truly world class riders internationally - with a big collection of medals on the track at junior and U23 level - and she will line out tomorrow for UCD Cycling in a rare appearance on Irish roads. Gillespie will be in the same team as Gabriele Glodentye, one of the stand-out riders of the season, and she can do a lot of damage, and win, tomorrow.
Cleo Harvey (Dublin Wheelers) has been in great form at time this season, as has Jemma Spears (North Down CC) while Ella Doherty (UCD Cycling Club) and Orla Walsh (Torelli-Assure-Cayman Islands-Scimitar) can also impress.
