McCormack victorious at Bikeworx Series, Mondello Park

With junior rider Barry Tailt (Kilcullen-Murphy Surveys) having won the last round of the Bikeworx Series in Mondello Park, Co Kildare, two weeks ago, the scratch men were once again denied in the third round last night.

And Newbridge CC's Fintan McCormack was quick to pounce and capitalise on the chance he was given; charging for the line to take a great win.

He got the better of Justin Magee (South Dublin CC) and Micheal Fitzgerald (Clonmel CC) after an aggressive affair promoted by the Usher Irish Road Club.

Philip Lavery (South Dublin CC) was 3rd two weeks ago when Tailt and Louis Carnac of Sorrento CC stayed away after being in the group that got a handicap on the A1s.

And while the handicap again denied Lavery the chance to sprint for the win last night, he took the gallop from the best of the scratch men to take the A1 prize and nudge what is looking like a comeback and little further down the road.
