Aine Doherty has won the women's race at 'Round 2' of the Cyclocross National Series promoted by Upperchurch Drombane CC in Drombane, Thurles, Co Tipperary, this afternoon.

The 16-year-old riding with VC Glendale was best in the five-lap race after getting a blistering start and opening a gap on her nearest rival, Grace Young (All human-VeloRevolution), making it two wins from two in the series to date. Young finished in 2nd place today, just 29 seconds down. Stephanie Roche (SB Motors) took 3rd place at 2:26.

In the men's race Dean Harvey (Spellman Dublin Port) was best by one minute ahead of Darnell Moore (Caldwell Cycles) with Richard Barry (St Finbarr's CC) in 3rd at 1:59. Harvey and Doherty had also won their races in 'Round 1' of the series in Westport, Co Mayo, last weekend.

Lots more to come.
