The winner of a huge number of races during his career, and some of them major ones; John Priest has done it again.

The Lucan CRC rider romped in at the head of the field to take the Dunsany GP today. It came down to a bunch gallop, with Priest's kick doing the damage.

A last minute change of circuit wouldn't have suited the Lucan veteran.

The Drogheda Wheelers-promoted event is always run off on the ‘Green Sheds’ Dunsany course.

But when a last-minute clash with a charity event presented problems, it was switched last minute to the Kilmessan GP circuit.

That’s definitely a more testing route and less suited to the pure fastmen like Priest.

But on a very windy day none of the many moves that went clear stuck. And when the race hurtled into the finish it was Priest at the head of affairs.

He took the verdict from Richie Dunne (Usher IRC) and Bob Hall (Clondalkin CC).

And just as the A3-Junior event came down to a big sprint, so too did the A4 race.

The in-form Mark Heather took a great victory for Clontarf CC. And having won the Tara Steel Cup in Bohermeen just a couple of weeks ago, he now moves up to A3.

He took victory today from Derek Humphries (McNally Swords) and Jack O’Donnell (Drogheda Wheelers).
