Paul Kennedy and Jennifer Neenan were in the race leaders' jerseys going into the afternoon stage 2 at the Orwell Two Day in Co Wicklow on Saturday after they were best in the morning TT opening stage.

Kennedy (Burren CC) won the 11km test starting from The Beehive, in a time of 15:26, which was 38 seconds faster than runner-up, and junior international rider, Conal Scully (Carlow RCC). Niall McCarthy (McNally Swords) was 3rd at 56 seconds on a breezy day when big gaps opened through the field.

The women's TT was won by Neenan (Sundrive Track Team) in a time of 19:23. She was 49 seconds faster than Autumn Collins (Awol O'Shea), with junior Katie Reilly of host club Orwell Wheelers in 3rd place at 2:29.

The men's race is run the conventional way for stage races, with general classification based on time. That obviously means the GC after stage 1 is the same as the stage result. However, the women's GC is being run on points this weekend. Points are being awarded for stage finishes and are also available at different locations during the road stages.
