
Conn McDunphy has been crowned elite men's national TT champion in Co Limerick this morning.
He claimed the title from Nicolas Roche, who won silver, and Lindsay Watson, who took the bronze.
McDunphy, who has been based in France this year with CC Nogent Oise, recorded a time of 26:29 on the 22.4km course at Knockaderry in the Newcastle West Wheelers promotion.
That was just two seconds faster than Roche (Team Sunweb), with Watson (Powerhouse Sport) in 3rd some 22 seconds off McDunphy's winning time.
Eve McCrystal won the women's title race from defending champion Kelly Murphy and former champion Eileen Burns.
McCrystal, the national road race champion from two years ago, had won silver twice in the TT and bronze no fewer than three times; her gold today adding to a very impressive championships collection.

Riding for the Strata 3-VeloRevolution team, McCrystal won the title today in a time of 29:01. That was 21 seconds faster than Murphy (Storey Racing), who has won the title for the last two years.
Completing the impressive podium in the women's event was former Irish champion Burns; the Ballymena Road Club rider finishing 1:28 off McCrystal's winning time.
In the U23 title race Ben Healy (Trinity Racing) took gold from Kevin McCambridge (Ribble Weldtite Pro Cycling) and Mitchell McLaughlin (Zappi Racing).
Healy clocked a time of 25:50, some 33 seconds faster than McCambridge and 1:39 up on bronze medal man McLaughlin.
Darren Rafferty (Island Wheelers) won the junior men’s title in a time of 28.22 with Matthew Devins (Team Fundacion Lintxu) won silver in a time of 29.12 and last year’s road race winner Tom Moriarty (O’Leary Stone Kanturk) claimed bronze in a time of 29.51.
In the junior women’s race Caoimhe May (Quanta Scott
Orwell Wheelers) won in a time of 33.10. Eva Brennan (Deenside Wheelers) was 2nd
with 34.04 and Lucy O'Donnell (Velo Performance) won bronze in a time of 34.15.
In the Masters women’s title race Jane Wilkinson (Bann Wheelers) claimed gold in a time of 34.03, with Ciara Havern (Newry Wheelers) taking silver at 14 seconds and Emily Anne Doyle (Naas Cycling Club) winning the bronze in a time of 36.43.
In the paracycling H1-H5 Handcycles race, Gary O'Reilly (Laois CC) won gold in a time of 32.46 from Declan Slevin (Rosemount CC) on 34.52 and Mark Millar (Velo Café Magasin) on 35.55.
In the men’s tandem championships Damien Vereker and Marcin Mizgajski raced to gold in a time of 27.14 from Leo Hynes and Stephen Teeling Lynch, who clocked a time of 30.04 to take silver. The bronze medal went to Martin Gordon and Eamonn Byrne in a time of 33.51.
In the men's Paracycling C1-C5 solo TT Ronan Grimes (Orwell Wheelers) took the title in a time of 29.40 from Scott Drummond (Cork County CC), who clocked 33.31, and Aidan Mullane (Bottecchia Racing Club), who claimed bronze in a time of 33.39.

Timothy of Castlerea Cycling Club in a time of 36.28.
