Liam O'Brien (Fermoy CC) has won the Naas Open TT - against top senior riders - in Co Kildare by a huge margin. The junior rider showed he is great form against the watch with the biggest junior goals - including the Junior Tour of Ireland and National Road Championships - still to come this year.

In the women's race, Jennifer Neenan (Longcourt Hotel-NCW) claimed victory in the 38.km event by a margin of 3:08 from Yvonne Doran (Orwell Wheelers). The race was overshadowed by the dreadful news that came out of north Co Dublin later in the afternoon, with the death of a member of the road racing community out training in a crash involving a motorist in car.

In the combined event promoted by Naas CC - for men and women of all categories - teenager O'Brien claimed victory by 44 seconds from former elite national TT champion Conn McDunphy, the Lucan CRC man who had a very nasty crash in Rás Tailteann but was still able to race yesterday.

Masters rider Paul Kennedy (Unattached Leinster), who is always impressive against the watch, took 3rd some 1:06 down on the flying O'Brien.
