Results Mondello Series; Anthony Doyle fastest in bunch sprint

He may have passed his 40th birthday but Anthony Doyle showed at Mondello Park, Co Kildare, last night that he’s still well able to move.

The Strata-VeloRevolution man claimed victory on the night in one of the biggest sprint finishes seen at the Mondello Bikeworx Series for a long time.

Doyle confidently took up position in the centre of the field. And when he got a clear run at the line and hit the afterburners he simply had too much to handle for the others.

Tim O'Regan on the front up the road; he was in many combinations of escapees but was hunted down and a bunch sprint ensued.

He had plenty of time to get his hands in the air to celebrate his win. Another two veterans - Eugene Murtagh (Lucan CRC) and Colm Bracken (Murphy Surveys Kilcullen) – took 2nd and 3rd.

There were a number of escapes on the night, with Tim O’Regan (Aqua Blue Academy) making a nuisance of himself.

He spent a long period clear, being joined by a number of combinations of riders as some dropped back to be replaced by others.

However, O’Regan’s efforts came to nothing when it was all closed down, with Doyle then taking charge for a great win.
