Cillian Murphy of Galway Bay CC has won the ‘Last Chance Road Race’ promoted by Newcastle West Wheelers in Cloncagh, Co Limerick.
Murphy was in a three-man winning breakaway which also
included Aaron Wade (Powerhouse Sport) and Stefan Caulfield-Dreier (Killarney Cycling Club).
They got clear on
the second lap of eight, with Conor Kissane (Killarney Cycling Club) chasing
the leaders solo for a time. While he almost got across, he was eventually
caught by the bunch.
The three-man
breakaway then rode away to lead by about three minutes going out onto the
final lap, where Wade and Murphy distanced Caulfield-Dreier.
The two leaders
then approach the finish for a two-up sprint; Murphy winning from Wade and Caulfield-Dreier
holding off the chasers for 3rd place.
