Paul Kennedy - perhaps the most successful GAA-to-cycling convert in memory - has added to his impressive list of career wins after taking victory in the Munster season-opener, the Lacey Cup, on Sunday.
The breezy conditions resulted into strong crosswinds for over 50km of the contest, with Kennedy converting two previous 2nd places in this race into a victory today.
He came into the finish as part of a two-man move, with young junior rider Shane O'Brien (camsmajaco) putting in a very strong performance for 2nd place on the day.
Kennedy told stickybottle he was really impressed with young O'Brien, adding the first-year junior - in his first race race since moving up from the U16s - was very strong.
He added O'Brien really wanted to race and do his share of the work up the road as the duo - with their big age difference - raced towards the finish.
This years racing - one event for C1-C2 riders and another for C3s - was also run off in wet conditions as the blue skies that greeted riders in Leinster and Ulster yesterday were sadly lacking today.
