Hazel Smyth has won the women's title race at the National Masters TT Championships in Co Limerick today. The Unattached Ulster rider rode the 22.4km course in a time of 33:20, which was just over 18 seconds faster than Tullamore CTC's Francine Meehan. Ciara Kinch of Cuchulainn CC claimed the bronze medal at 1:01.
In the men’s Masters 40 race, Paul Kennedy
of Burren CC has claimed the title for another year. His time of 26:42 was 1:38
faster than silver medal winner Mark Pinfield of Blarney Cycling Club. Eoin
Whelan of Seven Springs CC won the bronze medal at 2:52.
The men’s Masters 50 crown with to another
prolific man against the watch; Greg Swinand of Dan Morrissey-Pactimo. He recorded
a time 28:40, which was 25 seconds faster than Kieran McKenna of Omagh Wheelers
while Paul Carroll (Unattached Ulster) claimed bronze at 29 seconds.
In the Masters 60 title race, Seamus Keenan of Omagh Wheelers took gold, in a time of 32:27. Silver
went to Jimmy Flynn of Cuchulainn CC, who was just four seconds down.
Completing the podium was Colin McGready of Dromara Cycling Club,
who was just nine seconds down on the winner.
