A winner of multiple national titles on both track and road, and a Masters world champion against the clock, Greg Swinand has taken victory in the Danny O’Shea Memorial TT today.
The event, promoted by Sorrento CC in Co Wicklow, saw Swinand record a time of 20:38 for the approximate 10 mile distance, to win the event again.
He was almost two minutes, some 1:48 to be precise, up on
the next man home; Paul Noble of Slaney Cycling Club.
And rounding out the podium on the day was Joe Sheehy of
Bray Wheelers, who was just four seconds behind runner-up Noble.
Emma Desmond of Spellman Dublin Port put in a very good
shift, clocking a time of 22:54 and taking 5th place in the combined male and female
field.
Caoimhe May (Orwell Wheelers), who took two gold medals at the National Junior Track Championships last weekend, was 2nd in the women’s race with a time of 25:34.
