Munster junior road race champion Oran Pierse added another win to his CV with victory in the Club Rothaíochta Na Síonainna in Shannon, Co. Clare today.

Oran Pierse has continued a very good season by winning the 85-kilometre Club Rothaíochta na Síonainna in Shannon, Co. Clare this afternoon from Tom Shanahan (Limerick CC).
Those two were away with Shanahan’s teammate Adrian Kirby as well as three others on the second of five laps but the unnamed trio dropped back to the main field a lap later, clearly feeling the heat of the pace set up front - or perhaps not believing thefirepower was there to last the course.
Behind, the chasing bunch’s deficit fluctuated but with no concerted effort the gap held they never got back on level terms.
On the last lap, Brendan Talty (Burren CC) and Derry Mc'Namara (Dolmen CC) jumped clear in pursuit of the leading trio and though they closed, they never made the juncture.
Pierse was outnumbered in the final but he followed the wheels and timed his jump to perfection, crossing the line with a couple of bike lengths on a gallant Shanahan.
