Matteo Cigala of Team Dan Morrissey-Pactimo claimed victory at the Life Credit Union Newbridge GP today in Co Kildare. The Italian bested Conor Murnane of UCD Cycling and Darnell Moore of Team Caldwell to start the season off on a high.
Cigala, a former Italian international rider, and who has topped the Cycling Ireland A1 rankings in the past, took the victory today just a week after winning Strade Bianche Gran Fondo for the second time in his home country.
In the A3 race, Adam Gilsenan, who we spoke with last week, came out on top from Quillan Donnelly (Usher IRC); the same 1-2 at the season-opening Mick Lally Memorial last weekend. Irish junior international Conal Scully Carlow RC rounded out the podium.
Gilsenan (18), fresh from a training in Italy with his team for this year, has been making waves since the season kicked-off, with this his latest win of a very young season.
