Kevin Lynch (Newry Wheelers) has won the main event at the Dunloy GP, where he proved best of the A3 group that made it all the way in the A2-A3 Noel McIlfatrick Cup.

The handicapped race, featuring a total of 74 riders, saw the 35-strong A2 bunch, pulled back the five-minute gap given to the A3s in the three-lap race. However, while that gap was just closed on the final lap in the 120km race, the A3s dug in and pulled away again.

What the remains of the limit group managed to re-establish an advantage of 45 seconds it was clear none of the riders in the A2 would bridge across to them before the finish in very wet conditions.

Up front, when the leaders came to the line it was Lynch who proved best in the final dash to the line; getting the verdict over Nigel Watt (Bann Wheelers) in 2nd and Jackson Hall (Velo Cafe Magasin) in 3rd. Cathair McGuigan of promoting club Dunloy CC was 4th with Fearghal Kelly (Phoenix CC) 5th and Ian Carson (Ards CC) in 6th.

In the A4 race, Barry Doyle of Harps CC claimed a solo victory in the two-lap 80km race. Chris Church (Unattached Ulster) was 2nd, Jonny Adams (Killinchy CC) 3rd, Simon Ridings (Ards CC) 4th, David Moore (Team Coffee Hut) 5th and Amelia Tyler (McConvey Cycles) rounding out the top six.
