Daire Feeley (All human-VeloRevolution) has won the Castlebar CC Grand Prix in Co Mayo this afternoon, to add to his ever-increasing list of victories on the domestic scene this year.
Feeley claimed the victory today ahead of Bohermeen CC's Aaron Rafferty, with fellow Meath rider Sean Lenehan of Navan Road Club in 3rd place after 100km of racing.
The race was run off in a handicapped format with six minutes between the A1 scratch riders and A3 limit group. That gap was not significant and forced the A1s to ride hard from the gun to get to the front of the race, which they eventually did.
Later in the contest Feeley pulled clear with Rafferty and they went to the line together in a two-up sprint for victory; Feeley getting the verdict. The bunch sprint unfolded about 30 seconds later, with Lenehan proving fastest and taking the final spot on the podium.
In the A4 race, Paul Geraghty (Covey Wheelers) took victory on home roads from James McEneaney (Four Counties CC) and Stephen Weir (Island Wheelers) after 60km of racing.
More to come.
