Jason Kenny has opened his account for the year at the Mick Lally Memorial in Summerhill, Co Meath. The UCD Cycling Club rider went on a brave long-range solo attack and had the legs to finish the job.

He took the victory ahead of the chasing group, which was led home by his team mate - and one of the men of the the season last year - Conor Murnane. Tom Regan of Seven Springs CC pushed Murnane closest in the sprint for the runner-up spot but had to settle for 3rd in the Dublin Wheelers promotion.

In the A3-Junior race, Adam Gilsenan (CC Canturino Team) and Quillan Donnelly (Usher Irish Road Club) dominated proceedings after they took off early in a two-man breakaway. Gilsenan got the better of Donnelly at the finish for a strong win, with track international Patrick O'Loughlin (Panduit Carrick Wheelers) in 3rd place.

The A4 race came down to a big bunch sprint which was won by Brian McGrath (McNally Swords CC) from Daire McNab (Unattached) and Caoilin Considine (Bray Wheelers).

Lots more to come.
