Aliyah Rafferty (Tofauti Everyone Active) has smashed the Irish junior 10 mike TT record on the same course Conor Murphy (U19 Academy Région Sud powered by Giant) recently broke the junior men's record.
On the night Ian Inglis (Kinning Cycles) was fastest of the 58-rider field, clocking a time of 18:26 and beating Marcus Christie (CC Isle of Man) into 2nd place by seven seconds.
Inglis also teamed up with Barry Hayes on the tandem to record a time of 19:18, which was third fastest of the night on the Frosses course in Ballymena at the final round of the Ernie Magwood Super 6 Time Trial League.
However, it was the performance of Rafferty that really caught the eye; the 16-year-old proving fastest woman on the night, for 15th on the night, clocking a time of 21:22.
That time - while subject to ratification as a national record - was 49 seconds faster than the current Irish junior 10 miles women's record of 22:11 set last September by Aine Doherty (VC Glendale).
