Rafferty (15) takes first win as junior in National Series elite race

Aliyah Rafferty may still be just 15-years-old but she has moved up to the junior ranks for the new cyclocross season and has already gotten her first elite win in the bag. The Island Wheelers rider was best in the opening round of the Cyclocross National Series in Falls Park, Belfast, today.

She claimed victory in the VC Glendale-promoted race ahead of national senior MTB champion Caoimhe May (Orwell Wheelers) and Darcey Harkness (VC Glendale).

In the men's race, former national cyclocross champion made a winning start to his season in the mud, claiming the race victory ahead of international 'cross rider Travis Harkness (Scott Bright Motors) and Richard Barry (St Finbarr's CC).
