Evan Keane (Orwell Wheelers) has converted his strong form this season into victory in the main event at the Sean Lynch Memorial, promoted by Jons Drogheda Wheelers in Skryne, Co Meath, today.
Keane scored several top 10 results after impressive performances in a series of one-day races at the start of the season before taking on Dornan Rás Mumhan at Easter and Rás Tailteann last month.
Surviving the Rás has clearly paid off as he took C1-C2 race victory today ahead of some very strong fellow breakaway men, including Jason Kenny (UCD Cycling), who pushed him very close all the way to the line.
Cian Keogh (Team Skyline), who has been hoovering up wins on the home scene this year, had to settle for 3rd this time around, finishing a few lengths behind the winner and runner-up.
Mark McGarry (Dan Morrissey Pissei Cycling Team) took the sprint from a large chasing group for 4th place, with Luke Smith (Moynalty Cycling Club) 5th and Gareth O’Neill (Athlete Nutrition Coach HD) in 6th.
More to come.
