A large field of track riders is entered into the National Track Championships to be held on the Sundrive Road velodrome in Dublin this weekend, when 12 titles will be down for decision.
While our Olympians are having a break after the highs and lows of the Tokyo Games, there are plenty of road and track internationals in the field, including Lara Gillespie.
The 20-year-old, riding for Rupelcleaning Champion this year, is just back from the U23 European Track Championships in the Netherlands where she took silver in the individual pursuit.
This weekend she will go up against her team mate from the Irish team pursuit line-up, Kelly Murphy; the duo set to face-off in both the individual pursuit and the scratch race.
Gaby Homer, who has already won the national omnium title, will also ride in the pursuit, as will the new Irish criterium champion Autumn Collins (Spellman-Dublin Port).

In the men's pursuit, reigning champion Michael O'Loughlin is back to defend his title and the EvoPro Racing rider will go up against a stacked field.
Irish elite TT champion Conn McDunphy, who has just joined EvoPro for the rest of the season, is also on the start list as is Ben Delaney; the Sundrive Track Team rider who won the men's omnium title recently.

Conor Murnane of UCD Cycling Club is also down for the pursuit and he has been in flying form of late; the Galway Classic last weekend and a round of the Mondello Series and the Irish criterium title, all in the last 10 days, are among just a few of his wins so far this year.
Cian Keogh (Spellman Dublin Port), who has represented Ireland on road and track this year, took bronze in the pursuit last year and will be out for more medals this time around. All of the aforementioned riders will be racing across the events this weekend in what promises to be a bumper weekend of action.
In the women's 500m TT, all three medalists from last year are in action again in the 2021 title race; Nikki Taggart (Arcane CT), Deirbhle Ivory (UCD Cycling Club) and Orla Walsh (Nopinz Motip Race Team). Gillespie and Eimer McMullan (UCD Cycling Club) are also ones to watch and all five will also fancy their chances in the sprint.
In the men's kilo, Harvey Barnes (Spellman-Dublin Port) and Anthony Mairs (East Tyrone Cycling Club) are among the men to watch, with Australian-based Conor Rowley also hotly tipped. The same trio should also feature in the sprint, as well as James Glasgow (East Tyrone Cycling Club).
In the women's keirin title race, reigning champion Taggart is again on the start list with the other two medal winners from last year - McMullan and Ivory - while Collins could also take a medal.
