Photos of Irvine and McCann at Tour of Korea; rain forces stage cancellation

Today’s fourth stage of the Tour of Korea (2.2) was cancelled because the rain was so heavy it made conditions unsafe. The riders turned out at the start but a combination of high winds, very heavy rain and surface flooding forced officials to call off the action before the racing started.

David McCann (RTS Racing) is third overall. He was second after stage two – where he placed second in the three-man winning escape. But with time bonuses going to other riders on the third stage yesterday, Tuesday, he slipped one place down the GC and is nine seconds off the lead of Korean rider Chan Jae Chang (Terengganu).

The Korean was in the winning breakaway with McCann on stage 2 and won yesterday’s third stage. In second on GC is American stage 1 winner Alexander Candelario (Team Optum).

Martyn Irvine (RTS Racing) is making his road return following his Olympic qualification track programme and is back in 118th place.

The race finishes on Sunday. Tomorrow’s leg (Thursday) is 147km to Gumi, with two climbs.
