Ireland’s David McCann and Matt Brammeier have been in Team Time Trial action on the second stage of the Tour of Qatar today, with mixed results.

Brammeier’s Omega Pharma-Quickstep squad won the opening stage yesterday with Tom Boonen and so took the GC lead into today’s team effort. The Belgian outfit managed to take second today behind Garmin-Barracuda to keep Boonen in the leader’s jersey.

David McCann’s RTS Carbon Racing Team found the going more challenging today, losing 1:34 on the 11.3KM stage at Lusail Racing Circuit near Doha.

However, the race is McCann’s first of the season and the Belfast man normally takes a while to get going.

With team mate Boonen still in the jersey, Brammeier can look forward to more hard riding as the team tries to hold the lead and help the Belgian to more stage wins.
