The latest round of the Bikeworx Series in Co Kildare last night came down to one of the tightest sprints for the year with the verdict just about going to JB Murphy.

Riding for the Murphy Surveys Kilcullen club, he saw off Patrick Goszczyk of Bikeworx.

The fought it out for the win in a two-up sprint just ahead of a group brought home by former professional rider John Brady of SmartLamp.

And just behind Brady were a number of other top veterans including Anthony Doyle of Strata-VeloRevolution and Colm Bracken, riding for the same club as the victor on the night.

Sean Rowe was present and captured a great sequence of photos of the finishing sprint and just how close it was.

And one of his shots - above - caught the moment when Murphy's lunge to the line for victory momentarily took his front wheel off the tarmac.

It was a great ride before him and also by runner-up Goszczyk, both of whom are progressing well, especially with their finishing speed.
