Ireland's Philip Deignan was back in race action today for Team Sky; the first time he has competed for the WorldTour team since he pulled out of the Giro d'Italia in May with just two stages remaining.

Deignan is currently riding the five-stage Tour du Poitou Charentes (UCI 2.1) in France.

The opening stage - a 189.6km trek from Angoulême to Puilboreau - was won today by French sprinter Nacer Bouhanni of Cofidis.

He won in a bunch sprint as he bounces back from being relegated in Hamburg at the weekend for irregular sprinting when he thought he had won the Cyclassics Hamburg (1.UWT).
