There was another group of some 20 seconds back containing stage 1 winner and yellow jersey Tom Mazzone (Isle of Man).
The main field lost considerable time on the 12 men who comprised the front and chase groups.
The race split to pieces, with the third, small, group on the road losing more than two minutes and everyone else over three minutes behind.
Kennedy now leads overall from Eoin Morton (UCD-FitzCycles) and Dillon Byrne (VCUK VeloChampion).
Morton and Byrne were in the leading five riders today along with Dermot Turlock (Lucan CRC) and Conn McDunphy of the Irish U23 Team.
In the group of seven some 20 seconds behind the five leaders were some of the really strong men of the race.
Stage 1 winner Mazzone, who won in a sprint yesterday, was there along with Ronan McLaughlin (Aqua Blue Sport Academy).
Also present was former race winner Mark Dowling (Strata3-VeloRevolution), Matthew Garthwaite (Rhino Velo Race Team) and Ryan Reilly (Ireland U23 Team).
Leon Mazzone (Isle of Man) was also in the group as was Eoin O’Connell. Killarney CC man O’Connell was the last rider in that seven-strong chase group.
Kennedy has the overall lead, Morton the climbers’ jersey, Mazzone the points jersey and Trulock the U23 lead.
More to come.
