There was only one result Irish cycling fans wanted on today's stage 2 at UAE Tour; a first win of the season by Sam Bennett, now back with Bora-hansgrohe.

The Carrick-on-Suir man wasn't turning the screw today, with Mark Cavendish taking the win instead. And the Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl rider really looked back to his best, as the overhead footage below reveals.

Having spent several seasons in the wilderness due to Epstein Barr virus, Cavendish scorched back into top form last year when he won four Tour de France stages and the green jersey.

And with the new season just a couple of weeks old he's already got two wins; this one today and a victory the week before last at Tour of Oman.
