Andrew Ryan of Orwell Wheelers has taken victory on a very tough final stage at the A3-Junior Newcastle West Stage Race; the junior winning a sprint from a breakaway in sodden conditions.
He
got the better of Dean Harvey in that final sprint, though Harvey did more than
enough to win the race overall having taken yellow on the opening 8.8km
prologue TT last Friday.
Today
Harvey's Ireland team mate, Ruairi Byrne, took 3rd on the stage with Jamie
Meehan (VC Glendale) 4th and Jarno Pierre-Alexandre (Un-Attached Munster) in 5th.
The
first five riders today were all on the same time after 102km of racing in
Knockaderry. David Shine of O'Leary Stone Kanturk was 6th today, at five
seconds.
Yesterday's
stage winner, Eoghan Cooke of the Irish junior team, led home on the next group
on the road, for 7th on the stage and 10 seconds down on winner Ryan.
More to come.
