Gareth O'Neill (Athlete Nutrition Coach HD) and newly crowned Masters 40 national TT champion, Stuart McCaughey (Phoenix CC) have held their shape to impress at the Ulster Hill Climb Championships.

O'Neill, who had already had a very successful season this year in the domestic peloton, was by far the fastest in the Slieve Croob climb in Co Down, winning the Slieve Croob Hill Climb Challenge, which doubled as the provincial championships.

O'Neill clocked the fastest time in the test - 15:45 - to win the elite men's title by 46 seconds from Stuart Millar of Ards CC, with Nathan Mullan (Velo Café Magasin) claiming the bronze at 1:07.

In the Masters 40 race, the newly crowned national Masters 40 TT champion, Stuart McCaughey (Phoenix CC), was best in a time of 16:23. That was second fastest of all categories today, and netted him another Masters 40 title. Kevin Briggs (Ards CC) took silver in a time of 22:15.
