The Irish team pursuiters have taken another strong result even though they were beaten to the bronze medal by Germany at the Tissot Nations Cup in Cairo, Egypt. Going up against the Olympic champions was always going to be a tall order for the Irish, even though they beat Great Britain on their way to the bronze medal ride-off.

However, their 4th place finish at this meeting - added to the 5th places they took at the recent Europeans and Jakarta Nations Cup round - represents a very solid return for their recent efforts, which included smashing the national record by over two seconds on Jakarta.

The Irish women - Kelly Murphy, Lara Gillespie, Alice Sharpe and Mia Griffin - clocked a time of 4:23.238 on their bronze medal race, with the Germans recording 4:18.324.
