Ronan O’Connor of Orwell Wheelers has taken a brilliant win in the junior road race at the National Road Championships in Co Limerick.

The first year junior rider, who made national selection as an U16 last year, took the bull by the horns and attacked the front of the race on the final climb nearing the finish in Knockaderry.

He took the title just 48 hours after his team mate Caoimhe
May took victory in the junior women’s TT at the championships.

After O’Connor took his fantastic win today, Eoghan Cooke (Ounavarra Cycling Club) took the silver medal.

Rowan Montgomery, the Ballymoney CC rider who enjoyed such a strong National Race Championships recently, claimed the bronze.
