O'Connell strikes again for strong Paddy Flanagan Memorial win

Eoin O’Connell has taken his third win of the year with a brilliant victory in the Newbridge CC-promoted Paddy Flanagan Memorial in Kildare this afternoon.

The Killarney CC man was a worthy winner after making the day’s break and staying out front for the entire race.

In the break were Mick Fitzgerald (Strata3-VeloRevolution), Matteo Cigala (Aquablue), Joe Fenlon (Strata3-VeloRevolution), Philip Lavery (Bikehaus by Ridley),  Stephen Shanahan (ASEA-Wheelworx) and Cian Delaney (Stamullen CC).

O’Connell was clearly feeling strong and he attacked on the fourth of six laps and only Fitzgerald responded.

They stayed away for the rest of the race with O’Connell jumping away with a kilometre to go.

Fitzgerald held off the bunch who were led in by Matteo Cigala (Aquablue).
