Irish rider Liam O'Brien (19) and his Lidl-Trek Future Racing team mates have had a day to remember on the final stage of Flèche du Sud (2.2) in Luxembourg.
They took the top three placings on the stage - 149.5km starting and finishing in Esch-sur-Alzette - with O'Brien the best general classification finisher in the team after moving up to 3rd overall as a result of his 5th place in yesterday's stage 4 TT.
The teenager, who was riding for Irish club team Fermoy CC last season in his second year as a junior, also led the young rider classification into today's stage, by virtue of his 3rd place overall in the general classification going into that concluding stage.
O'Brien ended the five-stage race as winner of the young rider jersey, taking his first classification win since stepping up from the juniors last year.
Today, the stage finished in a bunch sprint won by Jakob Söderqvist - who also won yesterday's TT stage - from his two Lidl-Trek Future Racing team mates, who finished in 2nd and 3rd close behind him.
More to come.
