Sean O’Tuathail rounded out the cyclocross season in style by winning the Planet-X-promoted race in Blackwater Park, Navan, on Sunday afternoon.
The Bray Wheelers man was made to fight for it all the way however, with Eric Downey (Orwell Wheelers) hot on his wheels some 20 seconds back.
With a €250 prize for the winner it was no surprise to see the race so hard-fought.
Colm McGarvey (EPIC) and Derek Finnegan (Bray Wheelers) finished third and fourth respectively after good efforts.
O’Tuathail was outside the medals at the national championships last weekend but he has taken some big scalps in Leinster this season, so yesterday’s win will have been a very satisfying sign-off to 2016.
