One week after taking victory at the Supercross Cup in Dublin Niamh McKiverigan has won the second round of the Ulster Cyclocross Series.

The Scott-Eurocycles rider was best in the Lakeland Cycling Club promotion at Necarne, Irvinestown.

She ran out the winner some 58 seconds ahead of Darcey Harkness; the Carn Wheelers rider who has just gained national section for the European Cyclocross Championships next month.

McKiverigan, an U23 rider, battled closely with junior Harkness for the first half of the four-lap race.

However, while there was nothing to separate them after
the opening two laps, McKiverigan proved better able to sustain the pace.

She put 14 seconds into her rival on the third lap to
pull ahead in the contest and kept up that pace on the final circuit as
Harkness paid a little for her earlier efforts.

Rachel Irvine, the winner last week at the Ulster series
in the colours of The Bike House CC, rounded out the podium.

She was 1:32 down on winner McKiverigan and 34 seconds
off the impressive junior runner-up.
