Building on the successful return of the Cycling Ireland National Road Series in recent seasons, the national governing body has announced plans for a new TT series.

The new Time Trial National Series gets underway next spring, with four rounds confirmed - one in each province - next year and should create added interest in the TT discipline.

While distances and other details are yet to be confirmed for next year's inaugural TT series, Cycling Ireland has announced the dates and promoting clubs for each of the four rounds.

The development of the new series will hopefully prove a big boost for TT racing in Ireland, which still has a dedicated following but which used to be a much more vibrant scene.

In the past there were a large number of TT national titles on offer for every category each year - over the 10m, 25m, 50m, 100m distances and for teams - which ensured many riders constantly developed their TT abilities.

Those title races over the classic TT distances fell by the wayside about 20 years ago; replaced by a single national title race, held in conjunction with the National Road Race Championships.
