Robin Kelly has taken a brilliant win in the Dan O’Donovan Memorial in Fermoy, Cork this afternoon, Sunday.

The Aquablue rider got the better of Planet Tri’s Mick Storan nd Eddie Barry at the end of 100 kilometres of racing — a race one again lit up by an awesome performance from Eddie Dunbar.

Dunbar’s stock has risen every week he has raced this year it appears and today, he showed just why is regarded as such a talent.

The first-year junior rider attacked on the first lap and stayed away by himself for around 65 kilometres, maintaining a advantage of around 40 seconds before he was eventually reeled in by the combined efforts of the strongest riders in the country.

Some of those riders included the first three over the line as well as Cathal Moynihan, Dermot Radford and Denis Lynch.

The winning move came in the closing laps of the race when a four-man move escaped and they worked well together.

Kelly would have been favoured to take the sprint and he lived up to that expectation in tremendous fashion.

The Waterford native is clearly coming into some good form at the moment and last week on the final day at the Suir Valley he infiltrated the day’s break before eventually getting snapped up by the bunch.

It has been a bust year for Kelly too, with a new business and a new baby pushing cycling down the list of priorities, but he still showed he has what it takes to win.
